Email Marketing Manager
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in email strategy and execution, using analytics and insight to produce best ROI on client marketing programs. The position is responsible for managing all client email marketing programs and will work closely with Fluency Media’s creative team on email design and other members of Fluency’s client marketing teams to insure integration of email programs with other client online marketing activities. This candidate will have a strong background in email testing methodologies, measurement of email marketing effectiveness and optimal client reporting.

The position will lead the on-going execution and development of our email programs, including market research and new program offering development. Additionally, this individual will work with the IT team to drive the development of in-house email software systems to maintain an edge in the marketplace.

Job Description:

  • Own all aspects of client email marketing programs, while working with email marketing program team, including:
    • Developing email strategy per client account while working with client contact to further client goals, including: increase leads/sales/revenue, up-sell/cross-sell opportunities, improve brand awareness, etc.
    • Creating email testing strategies to survey client customers and produce higher ROI
    • Working with Fluency’s creative team to develop email messaging and design
    • Providing expertise, leadership and direction on data pulls, segmentation, and any tracking requirements per client campaign
    • Overseeing proper set-up, testing and deployment of email campaigns
    • Work with a team of resources responsible for database set-up, segmentation, and executing all outbound email marketing campaigns
    • Tracking performance relative to targets and continually optimizing results
    • Providing reporting and analysis of results for client consumption
    • Overseeing and providing direct customer service as necessary
    • Overseeing management of client email marketing calendars
    • Working with Client Marketing Management Team to integrate email results with other channels and vice versa
  • Lead email white listing ISP relations, CAN-SPAM compliance, list scrubbing, etc.
  • Work with Fluency’s IT team to insure technical aspects of email program are best in class
  • Refine and continually improve email marketing processes both on marketing and technical side
  • Continual research of best practices and email industry with recommendations to improve Fluency Media’s email program
  • Produce market research on competitor programs with recommendations to improve email programs as well as email software systems
  • Work with Fluency’s IT team on email software system upgrades and enhancements
  • Oversee legal issues related to email programs as well as client specific campaigns and work with Fluency legal counsel as necessary

The ideal candidate has:

  • 3-5 years experience with email marketing with a demonstrated track record
  • Experience with databases, segmentation, multi-variate testing and/or other marketing testing, and marketing data analysis
  • Knowledge of reputation management best practices
  • Excellent quantitative skills with an ability to identify trends/insights from data
  • Demonstrated ability to drive revenue and response from email
  • Reputation as being effective in your communication (written, verbal and presentation) between both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience using email software for deployment and analytics
  • Demonstrated understanding of email marketing best practices and target marketing, with a track record of meeting campaign performance goals
  • Experience managing end to end email marketing program
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent people skills to work with clients from C-level down as well as within the Fluency organization
  • B2B and B2C marketing experience
  • Proficiency in Excel, PPT, Word and other MS Office applications
  • Experience with online analytics tools such as Google Analytics, NetTracker, Omniture, and WebTrends
  • B.S. in Marketing or related field preferred



Director of Marketing

Leading a staff of online marketing and website experts, the Director of Marketing is responsible for the successful execution and improvement of Fluency’s online marketing programs.

Job Description:

  • Creating proposals and establishing high-level account relationship with clients, while insuring top quality service
  • Driving the creation and implementation of a comprehensive Internet strategy for client accounts including:  PPC, SEO, Email marketing, Website Conversion Optimization and Analytics
  • Developing strategic direction of accounts to achieve maximum ROI
  • Using and understanding web analytics to achieve maximum ROI
  • Overseeing campaign result analysis and subsequent recommendations to clients
  • Overseeing communication of these analyses and recommendations to clients
  • Oversee client account reporting and optimize to meet company and client goals
  • Troubleshooting problems
  • Working to increase client budget amounts by proving ROI
  • Researching new online marketing channels and techniques to up-sell clients and improve program offerings
  • Working with IT department to insure that new client marketing websites incorporate best marketing practices for optimal conversions

    • Establishing bidding strategies, and managing bids using sophisticated automated tools
    • Recommending and implementing of SEO techniques to improve organic conversions
    • Recommending and implementing enhancements to websites to improve onsite conversions
    • Ongoing communications with clients, search engines, partner firms, and suppliers
    • Managing client budgets and ensuring that accounts remain within these budgets
    • Creation of promotions, emails and other online marketing media
    • Sending, tracking, recommendation and strategy of email marketing programs
    • Monitoring client-competitor online marketing initiatives
    • Gathering industry research for internet and email marketing strategy development and optimization
  • Execute Fluency’s marketing plan including media buying, online channels and PR (as appropriate)

The successful candidate has:

  • A strong marketing background, including hands-on experience with SEO, PPC and Email Marketing
  • Website experience with understanding of how to optimize a website as the central property to maximize conversions
  • Agency experience with experience negotiating online media buys
  • A successful track record managing staff, including training, mentoring and improving work-life satisfaction
  • Successfully managed a departmental level P&L
  • Email marketing knowledge, including strategy and experience with segmented databases, multi-variant testing and analysis.
  • Understanding of reporting and recommendations with familiarity of marketing and analytics software and in-depth experience with at least 2 different tools
  • Experience presenting strategic marketing ideas with value proposition to clients
  • At minimum a Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
    At least 5 years experience supervising marketing staff
  • Initiative, is highly motivated and accustomed to being held accountable
