Melissa, I think your article validates the proverb: "great minds think alike!"

Our agency, Media Flint, has been advocating your approach to all our SEO clients for quite some time now. In fact in order to track offline conversions (such as phone calls) we have been using AvidTrak (www.AvidTrak.com) a keyword-to-call tracking product that we developed in house. As you have written in your article, "SEO is a long term investment", which requires "advanced planning." And in order to plan well one needs good data which is acquired through PPC and comversion tracking.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Hi Melissa,

Great points about using PPC to inform SEO. Upon a new site launch many companies want to see conversions right away. They figure a new site automatically equals an immediate increase in conversions. Though I can understand the rationale the conversion process doesn't work that quickly. SEO takes time, but PPC is immediate and will guarantee traffic to the new site right away.
