FAQ's

Q: What do you need to set up an Internet Archive site for my company?
A: If you’d like us to integrate your branding into the site, we’ll just need:
  • A high resolution version of your logo
  • Color specifications
  • Recommended fonts
  • An image or two
Or if you prefer, create ALL of the visual branding yourself. We have a basic branding guide that you can refer to. Either way, we’ll also need contact info, administrative email address and an optional Terms of Use Statement.

In most cases, the site can be set up in a day. Once it's set up, you'll never need to call us to change anything — you'll be able to create and name the categories, and decide yourself how best to organize your materials.

Q: What determines the cost?
A: Cost is based on total storage and data transfer available per month and the number of users with administrative privileges.

Q: How is the site hosted?
A: The site is served from a top-ranked hosting facility using Raid 5 servers, with redundant internet connections. The facility is equipped with high-level security systems including key card entry, fire suppression, battery and diesel generator backup power — next to AOL’s Detroit POP equipment.

Q: How can I get help and information if I need it?
A: You’ll have a personal account manager. They can be contacted directly by phone and/or email.

Q: How do I let my contacts know that there is something new for them on the site?
A: Your site will have a built-in auto emailer for sending notices to stored groups like your media contact list, franchisees, division heads, etc. In turn, the emails you send can contain a link to the system for downloads.

Q: What browsers can I use to upload and/or download files?
A: Our administration device requires Internet Explorer 5 (or higher) for uploading files. Downloading and viewing any of the files can be accomplished with any web-browser on either MAC or PC.

Q: How technical do I have to be to upload or download files?
A: It’s very easy to use for non-technical people to do either. It’s about as simple as saving a word file to a folder on your desktop.

Q: What do I have to send to get my files on the system?
A: Nothing. Anyone with the password can upload your files from their desktop.

Q: How do users get access to download files?
A: By filling out a simple online form, visitors can request access directly from you. Using our administration tools, you can make contact with these users and grant or deny access. An automatic email notification will inform the user that they now have permission to download files from your Internet Archive site.

If there are users that you’d like to specifically grant access to, you can set up individual user accounts using the same administrative tools. Users can also be grouped according to your own classifications, to make mass email notifications of new files or features even easier for you.

Q: How do you download files?
A: After logging in with a valid account, users have the capability to download photos, logos, PDF, Word documents and more.

Files displayed throughout your Internet Archive site will be accompanied with links to Download or Add to Media Cart. Clicking the download link will initiate the download with instructions for saving the file to your PC.

In the case of Press Kits and Graphic Standards, you can download all associated files simultaneously. The files will download as a single, compressed .ZIP archive, which can be opened using a common utility such as WinZip.
